I loved this Thousand Heritage bike helmet in terra cotta from the moment I set eyes on it. The sleek shape reminded me of the retro mod styling of 1950s Vespa helmets and the colour is so flattering (I’m always drawn to autumnal tones), it goes with anything. And as far as flattering ladies bike helmets go, this the Thousand helmet is high up there on the list.
Features:
The thing that makes this helmet really unique is the secret magnetic poplock so you can lock your helmet to your bike. The hole measures 3cm in diameter so should fit most D locks (probably won’t fit chunky chains). I’ve found this really useful as when off he bike I usually clip my helmet to my bag and knock everyone and everything. Leaving it safely locked to my bike means I can now confidently walk around the glassware department in shops.
The one handed magnetic fastener is a game changer for when you are walking the bike with one hand or if you’ve forgotten to fasten it and need to do so while riding. It’s pinch free so that’s one less thing to worry about.
The seven vents mean there is enough breathability on hot days to prevent you getting too sweaty but also enough coverage to protect you from the rain.
Talking of protection from the rain, the built in low profile visor gives you that as well as some shade from the sun.
Fit:
It has an integrated dial fit system so you can adjust the fit. This is a must for me as I often wear caps under my helmet so need to be able to change the size slightly.
The vegan adjustable straps are really comfortable against your skin and look much more stylish than the tradition nylon seatbelt style straps.
There is some thin padding which is removable so can be taken out and hand washed.
The back doesn’t come down too far so leaves enough room for a ponytail.
My head measures in between sizes so I tried both the small and the medium. The medium felt too big while the small was snug and secure and didn’t move around when I shook my head. In my opinion, if you are like me and measure in between sizes, I would size down.
